-
What exactly is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?Scalp micropigmentation also commonly known as a medical hair tattoo or cosmetic hair tattoo is the process of replicating the appearance of shaven hair by applying thousands of tiny pigment deposits into the dermal layer of the scalp. When applied correctly, the scalp appears to have a full head of hair shaved to a buzzcut or stubble so ultra realistic its impossible to tell the difference between that and real stubble without touching it
-
Do you do density work I don't want to shave my hair down?Hannah will take a look at your photo's and if it looks like you would benefit from density work she will guide you through the process
-
How many sessions will I need?Regardless of level of hair loss every client has to have at least 3 sessions, this is to build up the density gradually and to assess the shade which in turn guarantees realistic long lasting results, we'll also get you in for a free 4th visit to assess and perfect your new hairline 4 weeks after your 3rd session
-
How will it look after the first visit? Some people think we only cover a bit of your scalp, but we cover the whole areas that need to be done, you just will not have the same build up as the finished result. It will look like you have a lot more hair follicles on your head, it will look way better than when you first walked in
-
How long does treatment take?We always say allow 3 hours per session. You have your first session then 2 weeks later your second then 4 weeks later your third and 4 weeks later again your free assess and perfect review
-
Will it work on grey hair?Absolutely! As when any hair is shaved short it has a grey tone already the black carbon ink we use can be matched perfectly so it doesnt matter if you're grey now or turn grey in the future.
-
Is this the same as a normal tattoo? No not at all even though SMP can be known as a hair tattoo, it is completely different to a tattoo. The pigments used for SMP do not change colour, complete different equipment and needles are used and a complete different technique is used. Also you have to be specially trained to perform scalp micropigmentation.
-
Are the results permanent? Results are permanent, but top-ups are best had every 12-18 months to keep it looking absolutely spot on
-
What about top-ups?We recommend having a top up every 12-24 months depending on level of fade, if this is done regularly then not only will it keep it looking tiptop but also means you only need 1 session.
-
Do you fix botch jobs?Yes where possible, botch jobs are becoming more and more common as there are too many inexperienced people calling themselves SMP artists literally ruining peoples scalps, if it's happened to you the best thing to do is send in some pics via WhatsApp and we'll see what we can do to help.
-
How will we do the front hairline? The hair line design is entirely up to you, whether you want a nice natural, receding, sharp defined or a bit of both sharp defined and natural the choice is yours, however all hairlines should be matched to your age, ethnicity and head shape. We draw the hair line on first until your happy with the design, this can take anything from 10 minutes to 45 minutes, we then take photos and a video so you can see exactly what it looks like and ensure you're 100% happy before we start, this process is never rushed it has to be spot on
-
Can you get you the right colour shade? All hair when shaved at the root stubble short is a shade of black, the black pigment we use can be mixed to 30 different shades so matching it to your existing stubble wont be an issue.
-
How real will it look?Ultra real! Scalp micro pigmentation gives the look of a shaven head or a stubble shadow look, the treatment at Scalp Inked will be undetectable only ourselves and you will know.
-
Is the treatment safe? The treatment is perfectly safe, Every needle used is disposed of after each treatment and the equipment is cleaned after every client.
-
Do I have to keep my head shaved?Yes, your existing stubble/hair needs to be kept around half a mm to blend in with the treatment, we will advise you which trimmers to use as you go through the process and how often to use them
-
Does the treatment hurt? The honest answer is more of a discomfort rather than pain as with a normal tattoo procedure. We advise clients to have eaten well and be in good health on the day of treatment. Our pre-treatment advice also includes moisturising the scalp twice daily in the days/weeks leading up to your procedure. This will help soften the skin. The elation you will feel after solving your hair loss issues will far outweigh any discomfort from the treatment.
-
Will my head be red, how long will the redness last?"Everyone is different depending on the skin. Some clients the red can go the same day, some take a day and some can take a few days.
-
What about training/sweating/sun/swimming?For 4 days after each treatment (including treatment day) you can not train, no sweating whatsoever, also keep out of the sun this is essential otherwise the treatment can be ruined. After 4 days you can train but only light training as you cannot sweat excessively, once you get to day 10 then you can sweat as much as you like and you may also go in the sun, but wear a high factor sunscreen on your scalp. No swimming whatsoever until 30 days after your final session as the cholerine will bleach your SMP clean off.
-
How much is it?The price is completely dependable on how much SMP is required, cost is down to level of hair loss, head size, any scarring or alopecia all taken into account, if you can send some photos of your head from front top sides and back in via Whatsapp we'll get back to you with an instant price.
-
Do I have to pay everything upfront? No, you pay a £100-£200 non refundable booking fee (which comes off your 3rd session) to secure your booking and then we split the payments up in 3 parts so you can pay per session
-
Are the consultations free?Yes! Completely free, however as you can imagine we are very busy and haven't got a lot of time for people just to pop in who aren't really ready, they might get it done sometime in the future once the wife has given them permission or are just weighing up their options, if that's you you're best off just having an online consultation rather than wasting anyone's time
-
Is there a guarantee? There most certainly is a 12 month guarantee for full treatments starting from your first session, we have this in place in the unlikley event any of part of your treatment hasnt settled right and isnt quite perfect, just get in touch and we'll book you in for a free session, this doesnt include hairline or colour changes which will be charged at our usual rates and must stipulate after care advice must have been adhered too.
-
What about reviews?Yes we have over 90 5 star reviews on Google which are also linked to run along the bottom of this website
-
What's the cancellation policy?A non refundable deposit must be paid for all bookings Appointment dates may be changed with a minimum of 7 days notice If an appointment date is changed within 7 days you will have to pay another deposit to book If an appointment is cancelled within 48 hours the full cost of the session is payable.
